Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She is the fourth Roberts generation that has lived in Atlanta starting with her grandfather who was a farmer, John Pendleton Roberts. In the early years of his life his father became obsessed by theater. When he was studying at Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. Following his air force service, in 1953 he appeared in an airforce production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year. Walter attended Tulane University at New Orleans, Louisiana in 1957 after the couple left the US Air Force. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family relocated in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a children's television program in the city of Decatur, Georgia titled Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show themselves. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for about six years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
